It can be a routine or totally nothing to do. Work to be challenging has to have goals. Goals can be an improvement of you present output or comparing your output with another employee. The role of your supervisor has a lot of influence to this. Your supervisor may just be a middle manager who cannot decide what other meaningful work can be assigned to you. He may be a good supervisor but if there is no clear direction from him, then the work will be no direction hence no challenge. You can initiate your own goal by then but will your supervisor approve it, will there be support? Probably you can have other things in the office where you can divert your energy like writing a blog like this or surfing the net. I am quite bored right now but I cannot get out of this employment since this provides stable income and this age looking for another job is quite difficult. You have to think a lot before deciding on matters that will also affect your family like loss of income. If bored think of something that will preoccupy your time or any activity that will keep your mind away from your present state.

Investing in Stocks

I found investing in stock very time consuming. You just sit and watch the market through your computer. If you want excitement and if you get excited with numbers then it is a very entertaining vocation. It is not a game though. It can be a form of gambling if you trade more frequently. You will have a greater chance of loosing if you are not careful. Just like any other job it requires attention, discipline, emotion control and use of evidence. I have been studying stock investment for almost a month now and I already invested in Philippine Stocks namely Meralco and RCBC. I only invested a small amount trying to get the feel and the experience. I made an error in buying stock though I made a good pick. My timing is wrong. I bought high in Meralco. I have no regret in buying Meralco stocks. It is a good company engaged in utility. It has no competitor. I bought it for a long term investment. I am planning to buy more stocks for long term investment that is the main reason for my choice of Meralco and RCBC. Both are stable companies with regular income. I am still applying some mathematical model in choosing stocks to buy. I go on bargains and I avoid speculations. I keep away form stocks with high PE ratio and companies with men of questionable integrity.
I believe people should invest in stocks instead of keeping their money in the banks. In this way they are protected from inflation since stock usually appreciates over time. There also companies that give dividend income to their stock holders.
Buying stock is easy nowadays through online. You can ask questions or comment regarding stock investment in the Philippines. I am very happy to guide you. Just send me an e mail.

My First Stock

Finally I was able to buy shares. It is my initial stock bought online. I bought at 225 but at the close of trading the price went down to 223.8. It is also my first loss. Anyway I don’t worry since I know it is a bargain and just recently there were news that Meralco is expanding to power generation hence the price is set for upward movement.
My selected stock that will go up in prices are NiHao Resources Inc. (NI) up 4.42, Splash Corporation (SPA) up 1.63, Cityland Development Corportion (CDC ) unchanged, Globe Telecom (GLO) up 0.6, MERALCO (MER) down 0.53, Aboitiz Transport (ATS) unchanged and Pepsi Cola (PIP)down 0.37. I was wrong in Meralco and Pepsi. I have 3 correct prediction out of 7 stocks (43%).
My predicted stocks that will go down the following day areAboitiz Power (AP) up 0.18, Semirara Mining (SCC) up 0.59, Union Bank (UBP) up 1.48, ABS CBN (ABS) down 0.89, International Container Corporation (ICT) up 1.22and HOLCIM Phils (HLCM) unchanged. I have 1 correct out of seven predictions (14%). Probably the holders of these stocks are expecting that the prices will still go up and don’t want to dispose their stocks at the present prices. I believe they are already overvalued
These are the bargain stock I am recommending a buy for tomorrow 28Oct2010. Semirara Mining Corporation, NiHao, Splash Corporation, Universal Robina Corp, Globe and Meralco. They are at bargain. The overpriced stocks are Aboitiz power corporation, Union Bank, International container corporation, ABS CBN, Holcim, Republic Cement and Security Bank.
. Among the stocks recommended previously I have better prediction of the stocks that will go up and poor in stock that will go down. That means it is easier to pick up bargain stock that predicting the down ward price of stock.

Success

Set your goal. It is no the wisest choice. The best is self employment or having a business of your own. Starting small is the best if you still do not know the business and if you have small capital. Jumping from employed to self employed is a big decision and it will need a lot of thinking and a big courageous decision. While still employed you can start by reading or researching about possible business you can do or while employed you can still do some sort of business and you can learn from it. Do some more reading on planning, management, marketing and financing as well as accounting. You need to overcome the fear of failure. To overcome fear you should be ready to a situation where you loose everything but that will not happen if you have planned ahead. Business must not only be for money or profit. This is the same as employment. The goal must be satisfaction of yourself primarily. In business the other aspect be satisfied is the customer. It is also happiness if you have satisfied customer. Make profit secondary.

Enjoying your work

Work is your life. Employed people work eight hours a day but people who are self employed works more than that. Boredom seeps in if we do not enjoy our work. This will lead to stress and will have some effects on health sooner or later. This is the main reason we have to enjoy our work. If it is giving stress we can find or look for another work. All of these has to be planned. We have to think of the basic first which is money. The question we need to ask is "do we have enough money to tide us over while looking for another job?" This transition should also not be stressful.
There are things we have to do first before we think of moving out to find another job. We need to think why we are not enjoying our work. Is it from the outside or from our self? The very basic is to think about the factors within us. Do we have conflict. Is our attitude not appropriate? Are we not fit in the organization? Can I change myself to avoid conflicts in the work? Can I do something to enjoy my work instead of moving out?
Do decide drastically. Study and understand the situation and do a lot of critical thinking? The best is to enjoy every minute of your life where ever you are. Inequalities exist in the whole world. There are rich countries and poor third world countries. Wealth distribution is not equal but the earth is doing its best to equalize everything...to have harmony. The rich countries protect themselves. They have jobs, produce, and wealth. The need to burn fossil fuels to power their industry. Third world countries also need power. They need energy to do manual work. They need to feed their families. Because of inequalities in the opportunity they have to cut trees, sell the logs or convert them to charcoal in order to have cash to buy food and other commodities. They cut the trees that convert the carbon dioxide emitted from the industries of the rich countries. The result is accumulation of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. This has increase the earth's temperature that is thawing the glaciers. It is already happening now. There is already change in the climate. In the tropics, we are already feeling the effects. We are having unpredictable weather. Rains are heavier, summer are warmer, floods are more frequently occurring. This change on weather are also affecting the the rich countries. Nowadays they have more frequent floods, there is less snow fall and winter is shorter. Everybody is affected, rich or poor, and the solution is difficult to to do. It magnitude must be global. Less emission of carbon dioxide from the industries has to be complemented by less cutting of tress and planting of more. It can be done. Rich countries can help plant trees in the third countries and they have to provide income opportunities to people in the third word countries especially food. Action in each point of the globe has global repercussion.

Transferring to another Job

Transferring from one job to another will need a lot of critical thinking. What is the reason for the transfer? Does it pays higher? Are you bored with your current job? Is the new job more interesting? or it is more challenging or your qualification more suited to the new new job? What would be the consequences? Will you be moving location? How about your family? Will they be relocated or you will be moving alone separate from the family? Can you live far from your family? What is the most important reason for the change in job? Is it because of your patriotism or you obsession or the higher salary or the challenge? Will the change open the door to greater opportunity? Will the gain offset the loss? Will you be able to get back in case your expectation of the new job is not met? Do you have other plans if it did not work? Is your plan B foolproof? or you are just taking chance?
